These notes describe the revision history of Japanese WordMaster邃「 as at 19 March 1996. All bugs mentioned for a particular version were fixed in that version and marked with a bullet '窶「'. New features are also listed and marked with a '-'.

- selecting and replacing '?' with a true reading will not delete the Kanji beneath it
窶「 getting Kanji info may display the next part of the word during exercises
窶「 'Find words in dictionary list' changed to 'Find words in search list'
窶「 running JWM from CD-ROM will bring up a message requesting it be installed on a hard disk and run from there
v3.1.3
- a Kanji information hint was added to the bottom of the exercise dialog
- 'On' readings, entered in Katakana, can now be used to find Kanji in the Select Kanji dialog. Previously, all 'On' and 'Kun' readings could be entered in Hiragana only.
- a speedkey legend was added beneath the answer buttons at the bottom of the Exercise dialog
- a new entry point was added to the help system, for word search filters
窶「 the incorrect help card count for 'Word entry method' was corrected
v3.1.2
- the 'non-Jテエyテエ Kanji' and 'No Kanji grading' filters were added
- a new search control was added: hold down 'ctrl' when starting a search - the first Kanji in the Find word dialog must match the first Kanji in any found word
- changing the status of all words in a found block was accelerated
- the hint at the bottom of the Find word dialog was changed
- the help system was updated with information about all the new features
窶「 Any punctuation in the English definition on the Find word dialog was not processed correctly during searches
窶「 the Command-D key combination was removed (on the Spyglass button)
v3.1.1
窶「 After editing a word and then subsequently trying to save it, an alert may come up asserting that the English definition is empty when it is not.
窶「 When either the Help, Output list or Edit word modal dialogs are displayed, the drag bar of another dialog can be clicked, bringing that dialog to the front.
v3.1.0
- various word search filters added
- paste Kana/Kanji from Japanese text editors
- partial customisation to various European languages
- Kanji info available by clicking Kanji on exercise dialog
- shift-click output list to change status (when file open)
- Year, Lesson, and Group number range extended to 9999
- Kanji flashcard exercise sequence improved
- window positions saved between launches
- additional control keys have been added
- resizable and movable output windows
- word search by any entered Kanji
窶「 When searches are performed on an open dictionary, and an output list dialog is closed, the copy, move, delete and export menu items should be disabled.
窶「 The default maximum media object size has been increased to 80k. The memory requirement for JWM has also been increased to 1200k.
v3.0.5
窶「 The alert, 'Text too wide to fit window' has been changed to 'The English text is too wide to fit into the Exercise display window. Please shorten the English definition.'
窶「 In normal mode, the word type prompt rectangle was not printed in the correct position during exercises.
窶「 The bottoms of some Kanji were not fully cleared during the exercise process.
窶「 After saving a word in the New Word dialog, the Kana cursor may not be printed in the correct position.
窶「 Some media objects may not be removed from a dictionary when their associated words are deleted.
v3.0.4
窶「 When using dictionaries larger than 32,000 words during exercises, a file read error may occur.
窶「 If the hard disk becomes full during an EDICT importation, then the word count shown on the disk full alert may be incorrect.
v3.0.3
窶「 The default maximum media object size has been increased to 60k. The memory requirement for JWM has also been increased to 1020k.
窶「 When importing JWM v2.0 dictionaries, some words may have their Kanji mixed up. This bug manifests itself in the Basic Dictionary supplied with the package - ie. 'gyuuniku' has reversed Kanji.
v3.0.2
窶「 The Weekly Reset day value has been aligned internally to match the Mac OS Date/Time function.
v3.0.1
窶「 Some dialog messages have been enhanced to improve clarity.
v3.0
窶「 Initial release
v2.0.6
窶「 The Help system has been updated.
v2.0.5
窶「 Adding new Kanji readings can cause a system lockup. To workaround this bug, do not add additional Kanji readings.
窶「 Corresponding internal exercise information was not set up correctly after the status of a word was changed via the Edit word dialog. To workaround this problem, change word status only through the dictionary list search output.
v2.0.4
窶「 When the Kanji exercise option was set to "Display all", the exercise sequencer displayed Kana at the same time as Kanji. To workaround this bug, the Kanji exercise option was set to "Hide unknown" and all Kanji were enabled.
v2.0.3
窶「Running JWM under the original Quickdraw caused an unimplemented trap error - the presence of Color Quickdraw is now detected at launch and unimplemented traps are bypassed. JWM now operates properly on older Macs with the original Quickdraw and System 6.0.7, though System 7 is recommended.
v2.0.2
窶「 entering a teacher password for the first time in the MultiUser Edition sometimes caused a fatal error.
窶「 changing the time when an unregistered version of JWM was running caused a 60 hour timeout at the next launch. No problem occurred for registered users.
v2.0.1
窶「Kanji could be attached only in a set left-to-right sequence.
窶「 if the "Play introductory music" option was enabled for a student user of the MultiUser Edition, the music did not play.
